About Us

Joy is just a pawstep away

Our About Us section shares the story of how Charlotte’s Canines began – from a lifelong love of dogs, to the special pets who inspired us, to the spark that brought the business to life. It’s a glimpse into our journey, our passion, and why caring for dogs means so much to us.

It also introduces the friendly faces you and your pups might meet along the way – me (Charlotte), Ethan who sometimes joins on walks, and of course our own dogs, Misty and Butcher, who are a big part of the Charlotte’s Canines family.

Our Story

I started Charlotte’s Canines in August 2023, inspired by my love for dogs and of course my soul dog, Monkey – the heart behind my logo and the reason I first began this journey. Sadly, I lost Monkey in October 2023, and the grief was overwhelming. She had been my rock through anxiety and depression, and saying goodbye set me back in ways I didn’t expect. During that time, I stepped away from dog walking and focused on my work as a domiciliary carer.

But one day, I saw a photo of Chocco, a rescue dog I used to care for at a dog day care. I reached out to his wonderful owner, and we arranged a walk together in June 2024. I would have happily done it for free – just to spend time with him – but she insisted on paying me. That moment was my lightbulb: I realised I could do this again, not just as a job, but as something that fills me with joy.

From then on, my spark returned. Chocco reminded me why I started Charlotte’s Canines in the first place: my love, passion, and deep connection with dogs. Monkey gave me strength when I needed it most, her daughter Misty stayed by my side when I was grieving, and Chocco helped guide me back to doing what I love. Since then, our family has grown, including Butcher, our gentle Mastiff cross, and every dog I walk or visit becomes part of that extended family.

Dogs have given me so much – unconditional love, comfort, and purpose. When I’m around them, I’m at my happiest, so I make it my mission to give them the very best in return. I truly believe there’s no such thing as a “bad dog” – only misunderstood, mistreated, or misguided ones. Each dog I care for is treated with the same patience, love, and respect I give my own, because they deserve nothing less.
